Zhongli To Build 1Gw Solar Plant In Thailand

Chinese firm Zhongli Talesun Solar Co Ltd has recently started constructing a 1-GW photovoltaic (PV) equipment factory in Thailand.

Initially, the plant will have the annual capacity to manufacture 500 MW of cells and 500 MW of modules. The company's unit Zhongli Talesun Solar (Thailand) Co Ltd is building the facility in the Thai-China Industrial Park, located in the city of Rayong. The factory is expected to commence operations in October this year, the firm says in a statement on its website.

Meanwhile, the same subsidiary plans to spend around CNY 15 billion (USD 2.4bn/EUR 2.13bn) on the development of over 1 GW of solar power capacity across Thailand and Southeast Asia over the next three years.

Zhongli Talesun will keep on expanding its PV equipment manufacturing bases and sales, while also investing in solar power generation assets, as it aims to hit 1.2 GW of grid-connected solar capacity this year, chairman Wang Baixing said.
